Pelosi predicted the defeat of Paulson

Really, and it's on the interwebs. Check it out. Right about at the 1:55 mark she starts winding up and then says the days of bailouts are over!! I am not making this up.

It is ironic that the highest ranking woman even to serve in American government at the most important moment of her career would choose not to be a statesman but a partisan. There seem to be only two possible explanations, either she want to torpedo the bill she had spent so many hours negotiating (which seems absurd and wildly conspiratorial) or she was so stupid that she did not recognize that her remarks would obliterate the last best chance of the bill passing. On the principle that when one has to choose between conspiracy and stupidity it is always best to choose stupidity because it is more likely if only because it requires much less effort than conspiracy. In either case, however, she has demonstrated for all the world that she should not be speaker. There is plenty of blame to go around on this matter but to my mind this was the most boneheaded performance in the entire play, an a performance that could well turn a comedy into a terrible tragedy. Perhaps some futre Shakespeare will write a play "Pelosi," to run in place of
